Applications of the SITA science line t60

The SITA science line t60 is a mobile online tensiometer which measures the whole dynamic range of measuring tasks of surface tension. The tensiometer works by measuring bubble pressure. This is done by pumping air through a capillary into the liquid to be analyzed. The pressure within the bubble is proportional to the surface tension. Using a very short bubble lifetime (measurements made in a highly dynamic range) high concentrations can be efficiently differentiated. In contrast, with a long bubble lifetime one can take measurements in the semi-static range i.e. detect low concentrations of surfactants.

SITA science line t60 is especially suitable for:

Laboratories of Surface Treatment: setting and optimizing processes of metal cleaning, galvanic plating, wafer production and optics

To reach the desired cleaning effect a certain amount of cleaner in the bath must be optimized. During the process the cleaner is washed out of the bath, so to keep up its cleaning ability it is important to build up a "washing power reserve". This is normally done by dosing so much cleaner that its concentration exceeds the concentration required. This causes unnecessary costs, not only because more cleaner is needed. The excess cleaner is then washed into the rinse water where it reduces the standing time of the rinse bath. Also, the cleaning result of the bath is not stable which makes it difficult to set-up a quality assurance system. The actual cleaning bath state can be monitored easily in real time. This allows the operator to keep the cleaning bath characteristics constant by dosing additional cleaner when the surface tension reaches a limit.

The surface active properties of surfactants are of outstanding importance for the characterization and analysis of surfactants. Surfactants attached to newly built surfaces cause the surface tension to decrease. The SITA science line t60 tensiometer enables you to investigate various characteristics of surfactants: - temperature characteristics and concentrations. The temperature characteristics can be easily investigated because the temperature is simultaneously recorded with every surface tension measurement. The concentration of a surfactant has an impact on its dynamic characteristics. For instance, it is possible to research how much surfactant needs to be dosed in order to result in a specific surface tension at a given surface age. The required dynamic characteristics of the surfactant are determined by its use. Different surfactants have different behavior. Using the SITA science line t60 a surfactant can be researched for suitability in a specific application.
